Julia Fan Li is a Director at Lion’s Head Global Partners with primary responsibility for the Global Health Investment Fund (GHIF). The GHIF aims to fund research and development of global health interventions including drugs, vaccines and diagnostics for diseases that disproportionately burden low-income countries. Julia has worked at the intersection of science and business in healthcare innovation across four continents and specializes in innovative finance for global health. She holds a PhD in Technology Management from the University of Cambridge where she completed research as a Cambridge Gates Scholar on building ecosystem incentives for healthcare innovation for bottom-of-pyramid markets.

Julia started her career with KPMG LLP as a Chartered Accountant in the Canadian biotechnology practice servicing a range of public and private life-science innovators. Her emerging markets experience includes healthcare investment banking in China and leading health systems research in Rwanda. Subsequently, Julia served as a technical officer and special advisor at the World Health Organization for R&D financing and consulted for the GAVI alliance.

Julia is a co-founder of the African Innovation Prize, a social enterprise that encourages university entrepreneurship in Rwanda and Sierra Leone. She also serves as a policy advisor to the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health. Julia holds an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise (St John’s College, Cambridge) and a BCOM (honours) with a dual concentration in finance and immunology (University of British Columbia).
